Virtual library training web to develop Information Literacy: a case study on InformationTechnology (IT) application in library

Abstract


The purposes of this research and development are: 1) develop virtual library training web to develop information literacy : a case study on IT application in library 2) investigate the quality of the developed virtual library training web 3) study the learning achievement by using the developed virtual library training web 4) study the Information Literacy by learning from the developed virtual library training web 5) investigate users’ satisfaction on the developed virtual library training web. Sample group in this study consisted of 30 students of KMUTNB derived by simple random sampling technique. The research statistics included the average mean, SD, and dependent T-test. The results showed that the developed virtual library training web consisted of 4 main parts, i.e. introduction to the library, The circulation of library resources, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), and online database retrieving. The quality of the development was validated on the content and technique by 10 specialists divided into 5 librarians and 5 specialists in the field of education technology. They validated the developed virtual library training web at good level. The students learning with the developed virtual library training web achieved higher knowledge at the statistically significant level at 0.05. Moreover, their Information Literacy also increased at the statistically significant level at 0.05 as well. Furthermore, the students reported high satisfaction towards the developed virtual library training web at good level
