Competency Requirement of Construction Instructor in Educational Institutions under Office of Vocational Education Commission and Office of the Private Education Commission

Abstract


This research aims to study the competency of construction instructor in educational institutions under Office of Vocational Education Commission and Office of the Private Education Commission There are 725 subjects in this study, subjects were from 131 educational institutes under Office of Vocational Education Commission while another 109 Subjects were from 29 educational institutes under Office of the Private Education commission. The research tool used in this study was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a computer program SPSS to find out the statistical value, percentage, average, and standard deviation. The research findings were as follows. Core Competency: There is highest demand in the operational achievement aim and Good service. There is high demand in Information technology and communications, numerical analysis, self-development and team work. Functional Competency in teaching profession: There is high demand in teaching profession of construction instructor and teaching skill of construction instructor. Functional Competency in constructor profession: There is high demand in constructor profession knowledge and constructor profession skill. By comparison opinions of head of departments and instructors, the results reveals that requirement of the heads of department are core competency, functional competency in teaching profession and functional competency in constructor profession which are higher most of the instructor requirements. However, overall opinions of heads of department and instructors show high to highest demands in functional competency in teaching profession.
