Model Development of Small Industrial Business Organization Enhancing Effectiveness in Competitio

Abstract


The purposes of this study were: 1) to study the management factors of a small industrial business organization, 2) to study job description and potential of employees in a small industrial business organization, 3) to develop an organizational model of small industrial business enhancing effectiveness in competition, 4) to construct a guideline manual enhancing effectiveness of a small industrial business organization in competition. The research applied a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative approach. The tools for qualitative research were behavioral event interview (BEI), focus group discussion and the data were analyzed by content analysis. The tools for quantitative research were survey reports and questionnaires and the data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation by SPSS. The participants were (1) the experiential groups for survey exploratory and behavioral event interview, (2) the expert group for focus group discussion, (3) the respondents for answering the questionnaires. The research revealed that the structure of a small industrial business should be flat in structure. There were two main functions of the organization: production or service. The job functions supporting the business were (1) marketing, (2) sale, (3) accounting, (4) finance, (5) procurement, (6) human resource, and (7) administration work. There were 6 components of employee’s potential in working in a small industrial business. They were (1) vision in business, (2) awareness of business environment, (3) employees’ specification characteristics in business, (4) business acumen knowledge, (5) human resource management and development, and (6) business management. The model of the small industrial business enhancing effectiveness in competition was verified by the experts in the focus group discussion with consensus agreement. The guideline manual for the development of a small industrial business organization enhancing effectiveness in competition was approved by the professionals for its appropriateness in application.
