Janthra Orasa, Ekkamol Boonyapalanant

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to develop games that promote cooperative    learning by using computer-assisted instruction for the instruction of geography in Thailand, and 2) to compare learning achievement with games that promote cooperative learning by using computer-assisted instruction to teach with the conventional method. The sample consisted of 30 Prathomsuksa Six students, Watnernpraprang School in Thailand, in the second semester of academic year 2017. The subjects included 15 experimental groups and 15 control groups using the random sampling technique. The research instruments were (1) a game that facilitated cooperative learning by using computer-assisted instruction for geography instruction in Thailand; (2) a game quality assessment model that promoted cooperative learning by using computer-assisted instruction for the instruction of geography in Thailand; and (3) a learning achievement test with a game that promotes cooperative learning by using computer-assisted instruction again for geography instruction. The statistics used for the data analysis were mean and standard deviation. The results of the research were as follows: 1) the quality of the game facilitating cooperative learning by using computer-assisted instruction for the instruction of geography in Thailand was 83.50/84.23, which was higher than 80/80 (expected criterion); and 2) the learning achievement of the students that studied with computer-assisted instruction for geography instruction in Thailand was significantly higher than the learning achievement for those that studied using the conventional method at the .05 level.
