The Development of New Workforce Competency in Textile Industry.

Abstract


The purposes of this research were 1) to study the new workforce competency of the middlestream textile industry 2) to develop the training package for the new workforce competency development of the middlestream textile industry and 3) to evaluate the new workforce competency in the middlestream textile industry after training.
The population and the target groups were the experts and the employees in the Textile Industry. The In-depth interview method was used with the experts and the questionnaires were used with the employees in the middlestream textile industry. The statistics data analysis were content analysis and statistics: frequency, means, standard deviation, IOC and One Way Analysis of Variance : ANOVA. The Focus Group was used to ralidate training package used to new workforce competency development.
The research results were that:
1) The training package for the new workforce competency development in the middlestream textile industry for the Spinning Group as ralidated by the experts was at the high level of congruency. In addition, the administrators unanimously agreed for the effectiveness of the training package.
2) The result of the performance competency of the new workforce in the middlestream textile industry in the Functional Map comprised of 1 key purpose, 4 key roles, 21 key functions which consisted of 21 units of competency and 82 elements of competency.
3) By using the need analysis, it was found that the need for the new workforce competency development in the middlestream textile industry was in the spinning industry sector which composes of 6 key functions as follows ; production planning, controlling the efficiency of Spinning factory, maintenance factory, quality inspection, preparing raw material for production process and cost controlling management.
4) The training package for the new workforce competency development in the middlestream textile industry for the Spinning group composed of 6 learning units 23 Modules. The result of training found that the learning achievement of the trainees for the theoretical knowledge was at 88.96 and the performance was at 92.07 from the criteria of 80 out of 100.
